Some Thawte SSL certificates require the installation of an Intermediate CA certificate. If the SSL certificate was not delivered with the Intermediate CA or if it needs to be re-installed separately, please see the following installation instruction:

1.  Open a MMC console (Start > Run > MMC and press Enter)

2.  Load the Certificate snap-in to the Local Computer account

  • Go to the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in.
  • Click the Add button
  • Click Certificates from the available snap-in list, click the Add button
  • Choose the Computer Account
  • Choose to manage the Local Computer
  • Click the Finish button
  • Click the Close button, then click the OK button

1.  Expand the Certificates folder on the left, then expand the Intermediate Certification Authorities folder.

2.  Right-click the Certificates sub-folder (of Intermediate Certification Authorities), click All Tasks > Import.

3.  The Certificate Import Wizard will appear. Click Next.

4.  Browse to the location of the Intermediate CA (if it was saved with an extension other than .cer or .crt, select All Files in the Files of type: drop down), click the Open button, then click the Next button.

5.  Ensure that Place all certificates in the following store and Certificate store: shows Intermediate Certification Authorities, then click Next button.

6.  Click the Finish button to complete the installation.

Please restart the website in IIS to ensure the new Intermediate CA certificate is properly referenced in SSL connections.
