Plesk Without a DNS Server Print

  • 0

You can exclude the DNS server component from your Plesk installation. To do this, use the custom type of installation and deselect the corresponding component (BIND DNS server support on Linux and Microsoft DNS server on Windows).

If you do this and do not connect an external DNS service, Plesk does not provide the DNS service for websites hosted on it. Additionally, the following changes in Plesk behavior take place:

  • The DNS Templatelink is not displayed on the Tools & Settings page of the Server Administration Panel.
  • In the Customer Panel, the link DNS Settingsin Websites & Domains > <domain_name> is replaced with the link Whois Information, which opens a page with the information about the domain name registration.
  • Plesk users are unable to install web applications that require DNS zone management permission (or DNS aspect).
  • Plesk returns errors on attempts to manage its DNS server or DNS zones by means of the command line utility dnsor XML API requests with <dns>
